MOBILE INTERNET METER

Free benchmark of quality and speed of mobile data connections

Description

The service is available on the PeC Forum site. It allows users a real time check of mobile data connection speed. It's mainly a benchmark tool that lets you know how network performances change in relation of carrier, usage conditions and mobility status.

In the chart below, you can find a brief description of the way the tool works.

How to use the service

You can access the Mobile Internet Meter using the link www.pec-forum.com/m with a device supporting data connections (Gsm, Gprs, Hscsd and - in perspective - Umts) and visualization of html content (directly or using a Pda/Laptop)

To obtain comparable results, users have to fill in a simple and fast form with the following informations:
a) Carrier used: es. Blu, Omnitel, Tim, Wind;
b) Transport: es. Gsm, Hscsd, Gprs, Umts;
c) Device: es. mobile phone+ laptop, mobile phone+ Pda, …
d) Localization/situation at test time: es. "urban, stopped", "on car, suburban"...
After this, it will be possible to start the test

Feedback

The tester will get, in near real time, his own performance, in kbit per second. It's possible to repeat the test any number of times, referring to:
  • different testing situations (repeating the test in a different time, place or moving condition)
  • different connection parameters (setting the device in a different way)
  • different access networks (if the user has more than one Sim and wants to compare the performances)
